This site has much information on Native American History.
The Man On the 20 Dollar Bill
It behooves us all to educate ourselves about this. I frequently start conversations with people about the Indian Removal and Andrew Jackson’s part in it, and almost all the time, people really have no idea. Some have never heard of the Trail of Tears, and some have heard of it but don’t really know exactly what happened.
I invite people to learn and spread the word.

I’ve been tweeking the site a little today. Added a way for folks to subscribe via many services and a way for me to track stats. I am learning as I go about this blogging stuff. Noticed that Jim had a link to here. He has a post on Andrew Jackson which see in my list of links at the right. Aside from being a very nice man (you can tell that if you read even just a little of his blog) he is one of many that object to that man on the 20. I will be posting more links as time goes on, I am still on a learning curve with the technology. I welcome and appreciate any links to pages anyone can send to me. I would like this site to be a hub of resources about this issue. Meanwhile I am still marking up bills, got me a rubber stamp as my old buddy ersie37 reccomended. Others are too and I will be posting pictures of some of their work.

I was listening to the Cherokee Nation Radio Show today and there was a woman telling the story of the Cherokee Rose. She also mentioned Andrew Jackson and talked of the events that lead up to the Trail of Tears, which is why I am posting about it here. The date of the show is 2/10/08 and the story starts at about 47.50 minutes into the show. If you click on the bar underneath the picture of Dennis Sixkiller, it will open a control panel and you can use your mouse to slide the marker to the right location. Or you could listen to the whole program.
I have put $1000 dollars of marked 20s into circulation so far, all over the country. I flew to San Francisco via Minneapolis, and then back via Detroit, then went to Boston and left 20s in every location.

What if everyone who could not stand seeing Andrew Jackson on the twenty were to express their feelings on every bill that came into their hands? What if we all started putting Hitler moustaches on every twenty we got our hands on? That’s what I’m doing, and I am putting this website address on them too.
I have a vision of these bills circulating and spreading the word, piqueing peoples curiosity so that they will educate themselves as to what this man did, and pass the word. As this site continues to be developed, I plan educational information, links to other sites, and a space for the story to be told, by the people most effected. Heart to heart, the truth will be known.

Every time a twenty dollar bill passes through my hands, I get just a little sickened. Having to look at the face of the man who illegally drove many American Indians off their land, and caused the deaths of thousands, makes me ill. I cannot imagine how it must make our fellow citizens who are Indian feel.
It’s time we stop honoring this villianous man.
Speak up and spread the word!
