Making Andrew Jackson Look Silly
My friend Roger thinks putting Hitler moustaches on Andrew Jackson is silly. Roger, I say, lighten up! Remember what you and I were doing in the 70’s! I think silly is a good idea when it comes to Andrew Jackson. So I asked my friend Jason, the brilliant I.T. guy and up and coming artist, who suggested the Hitler moustaches, to make Andrew Jackson look very very silly. And here is what he came up with:
Images have power and the image of Andrew Jackson on the 20 has a dark power, it evokes sadness, anger, pain, powerlessness - when I alter the image on the twenty it takes away that power for me. Putting a Hitler moustache on Andrew Jackson makes a statement. He is known in some circles as the Indian Hitler. I have a Cherokee friend whose father called him “Adolf Jackson”. Cherokee will cash in a twenty for two tens just so they don’t have to carry him in their wallets. And now days 20’s are much more common than they used to be, it’s harder to avoid that painful image. So drawing Hitler moustaches on twentys is a way to make a statement. And a way to take the power back from the image. Plus it’s fun to make him look silly! I invite people to see how silly they can make him and send me pictures. I will start a gallery.
